Russell: To deepen the bond we have with our customers *cough cough* and to get our sales up *cough cough* we created this blog for you all to get in touch with us. Today, I’m going to introduce the rest of the staff here so you know who to address your questions to. Starting with-
Vinnie: ME ME ME!!!!
Russell: Yes, Vinnie, You.
Russell: What you do.
Vinnie: Ohhh! I like to dance :)
Russell: No, what is your job?
Vinnie: Man, you should’ve just said that! My job is… well I lift heavy things sometimes? Like dog food and kitty litter. That kinda thing. Mostly just chill, though. That good?
Russell: You know what? Yes. That’s perfect, Vinnie
Vinnie: Sweet.
Russell: Minka, sorry to cut you short but can we have your name and job please?
Minka: I was just getting to that part! Anyways, my name’s Minka Mark, and I’m the cashier here, you hear?
Russell: Loud and clear, Minka.
Russell: They aren’t lines, just say it how you normally would!
Vinnie: Yeah, you just gotta say it Zoe-ey!
Zoe: Zoe-ey? Oh, that’s it!
Zoe: *singing* Yeahh Yeaaahhh~ The name’s Zoe~ And now you know-y~
Zoe: *back to talking* Oh, yeah. I’m in charge of grooming the pets.
Russell: Ohhh-kay. Let’s move on.
Pepper: Serious as I can be. Number 1: what has four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs at night?
Russell: A man.
Pepper: Correctomundo, but are you ready for riddle number 2? What gets wetter the more it dries?
Russell: A towel. Are you just reading off a list of the top ten most basic riddles or what?
Pepper: I’ll answer that but you’ll have to answer three more riddles. Last one: the man who invented it doe-
Minka: HER NAME IS PEPPER CLARK AND SHE TAKES CARE OF THE DAYCARE PETS!!!
Pepper: Dangit.
Russell: Thank you, Minka.
Russell: Probably like 10 people at most.
Vinnie: But, hey! You never know if the algorithm could pick it up! You could be talking to millions of people right now!
Sunil: Millions?! Eek!
Russell: *sigh* That’s Sunil. Talk to him if you ever need help finding anything. I promise he’s more helpful than he looks right now.
Russell: … that’s it?
Penny: Was there supposed to be more?
Russell: No, this is just the smoothest interview I’ve had all day. I’m kinda shocked.
Penny: Well, I’m glad I did good.
Russell: Yep.
Both: …
Blythe: Ruff ruff!
Russell: Oh, yeah, that’s right! Don’t forget to check out Blythe-Style pet clothes which you can find on the racks in the front of the store (which are made by a different Blythe and not this Blythe. A human Blythe. Obviously because why would a dog make clothes!! That’s absurd!!! Almost as crazy as a group of people who can understand ANIMALS hahahaha!!!)
Russell: Those questions aren’t- Whatever. Ask us anything, I guess.

((Hello!!!! Double parentheses mean that I, the person who runs this blog aka @octodrawn, am speaking. I wanted to give you a couple guidelines before you submit anything. If you’re interested, please click read more!
I want to start this off by saying I am a human person with responsibilities, boundaries and a lack of free time so it may take a while to answer your ask. I also have the right to not answer every ask I receive.
We are keeping things generally PG/PG-13 here, so that means Minimal swearing, no violence, Minimal references to drug use, nothing sexual except for maybe the occasional ‘I did your mom last night’ type jokes because they are funny to me.
This is primarily an art ask blog, but I will only use text for posts on occasion.
I’m not gonna put a cap on ‘what do you think of __ x __’ questions for now, but if they become a majority of questions asked, then I will. Currently, no ships are canon in this AU, so don’t expect any answers to say anything differently.
Don’t take the setup of this blog being diegetic too seriously. If you want to send something that’s like *gives them all cookies* or *transforms them into turtles* I won’t stop you.
Have fun and be yourself :-)
Please keep this in mind before asking anything. This is all for fun, so please don’t take this too seriously.
I’ll be making a tag list soon but feel free to send asks now :3))

ok time for some au stuff:
Blythe's Family Tree!
Yeah, Mrs. Twombly is related to them in this AU.
Some of the people (Anna's parents and Betty's parents) are just plain old irrelevant to the story I'm working on and only there just to show the connections of the main characters. Idk what to do about them if they're dead or alive or whatever, but eh.
And also, smth to clarify:
-In this story, Roger was actually Roger Smith before he married Betty and became a Baxter. And it was Betty's Dad who brought the Baxter into the family.
aight thas all

Caravaggio's Rome is My Rome the book I've been writing for the past 20 years
When I first moved to Italy in 2003 I began researching, writing, taking photographs, collecting recipes, stories, experiences; I began gathering together the material that would become The Book, My Book
The book, my book began its life as "Under a Fig Tree in Rome", my love letter to the five years I lived on the streets, named after my first home, a fig tree on the Tiber Island.
In first-person narrative I told the tales that weaved together those five years. A way of apologising, forgiving, celebrating, remembering those faces & places. An exorcism of ghosts of sorts as most of the characters i wrote about are dead now. My book is a memorial. A glorification of the inglorious. But it was no Kerouac. I printed and bound "Fig Tree" and placed it in my bookcase.
My obsession with Rome remained a roaring fire in my heart after i left the city in the summer of 2007. By 2009 I enrolled in the history of art program at Birkbeck, University of London, graduating with a Masters degree in 2017, the majority of my credits being Roman/ Renaissance modules. I had learnt a great deal which made me aware that I knew absolutely nothing.
In 2016 I began writing about Rome again, but from a different angle. My boyfriend had a rickshaw which he used to transport tourists around the city. I realised the rione of Rome I had lived in & written about in The Book, My Book was also the backdrop of Michael Merisi da Caravaggio's twelve years in Rome at the turn of the seventeenth century.
I began to draw different lines on the same map, joining dots, making connections. I wrote another book, based on a series of walks in which you saw the paintings of Caravaggio as well as where he lived, where he drank, where he worked overlayed with where I lived, where I drank, where (and what) I wrote. Caravaggio's Rome is My Rome.
The lockdowns of 2020-21 changed everything for Francesco & I. No tourists, no work. Required by law to stay at home, 25 km east of Piazza Navona, I began to explore my patch the city, Giardinetti, just off exit 18 of the Grande Raccordo Anullare, the ring road around Rome. My geography had changed. & then our circumstances changed too.
In December 2022 Francesco had a car accident that left him semi-paralysed. From the moment he was discharged from hospital in February of this year I became a cook, cleaner & carer. My Rome work became a Mrs Beaton-like grimoire of recipes, household management tips, hedgewitchery and notes on a nightmare commute - with a wheelchair - across the city relying on (extremely unreliable) public transport.
My role changed, so my Rome changed and the book, my book gets re-written, again. More like a Cy Twombley painting than ever - scribble, scribble, scribble, WORD IN CAPITAL LETTERS, whitened, sanded back, text comes through the titanium white.

Oooh, ooh, about Vinnie's owner - In The Loop shows us that Vinnie has been going to LPS since he was a child. It's hard to say how many years have gone by, but Mrs Twombly is noticeably younger, so Vinnie has probably watched his owner grow from a baby. He's a big brother~
Wait a sec, you're right! I haven't even had that thought yet. But I suppose that also makes the possibility that Vinnie's owner chose him because of the same hairstyle impossible, cause like, Vinnie had a different one when he was a child, so yeah, and his owner most likely too if he was even the one who chose him. It could have been his parents or something after all. The more I think about the whole hairstyles thing it makes less sense at least some of it. It's still possible that when his owner grew up and his hair got like that he started stylizing Vinnie's hair this way too or or Vinnie was the first one and his owner followed.
Anyway, yeah, Vinnie has probably watched his owner grow from a very small child at least.
Once again the question of how old everyone is and how much time has passed arises, but let's not get into that now

Russell, Sunil, and Vinnie agreeing to be juggled is the absolute best thing cause why not
Penny For Your Laughs
Did Pepper order that herself
With what money???
The pets being obsessed with the box
They really are just silly little guys
I think Pepper needs to watch some Drew Lynch to know what true comedy is 💀
It's at least good to know that the others do enjoy Pepper's pranks
YouTube "pranksters" take notes
Pepper mishearing schtick as stick sounds like something I'd do
It's pretty cute how affectionate Blythe is with the pets
Everyone being good sports about it :) I can't wait to see how this will inevitably backfire
I love how everyone is wheezing when Pepper starts to make fun of Mrs. Twombly
Pepper I think you're killing them
I forgot subplots exist
The Biskits are me trying to play basketball
It's true sadly 😔
Look at Blythe being the bigger person
wait where's Jasper
no wonder I forgot about him
he never shows up
GIRL WATCH DREW LYNCH I AM BEGGING YOU 😭😭
Pepper may be my fave but that doesn't mean she's immune to my bullying
Oh hi Jasper
I thought we lost you for a second
Blythe they are judging you so hard
Sorry Blythe they went to get the milk
Is that still funny
Russell can play video games apparently
Pepper 💀
I feel like a disappointed parent right now
Sunillll
He looks so sad :(
I actually remember the outcome of this is that Penny floods the shop with her tears let's see if it's true
It's true
Sunil I don't think an umbrella can help you here buddy
Russell scolding Pepper kydvkyrsc
"I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed." - Russell, probably
You guys did not have to trample Pepper like that 💀
am I using the skull emoji too much
Why is Jasper not with you guys again
I remember this banger
You guys corrupted her oh no
At least everyone is still trying to be nice to Pepper
Hopefully she won't get the Rainbow Dash treatment down the line
Russell, Sunil, and Vinnie just agreeing to be juggled
Why does this sound like a breakup song
Olivia Rodrigo don't got nothing on Pepper Clark
These instances happening throughout the song aren't even Pepper's fault
I guess this means I have to make some more angsty headcanons
A travesty, truly
Pepper literally gave Penny a flower
I think??
It might just be for the song
Also how is the bee your fault
Well that evil arc didn't last long did it
They just got scorched by that sick burn
Acting like they got shot
Did a bicycle just come out of her pocket
Pepper being shocked that the word "sorry" works
I guess you could say it starts with sorry- *gets shot*
Please somebody get that reference
#I don't even watch hazbin hotel but I know the song it starts with sorry so I'm guessing the reference is for thar ;>#oi respect my boy Jasper he's like my favourite human character (after Blythe's dad and Mrs. Twombly)#they just don't give him enough screen time :(#I so agree on that bee not being Pepper's fault like girl how#they are indeed very silly!#lps 2012#waiting for those like waiting for my favourite review youtubers video#I don't even watch review youtubers cause I diagree with them but I think this is what it must feel like#can't wait until you get into some more Vinnie centric episodes

Is there more info you can let slip about your lps au?
Lore wise, that'll be left to the askblog but general information sure!
Basically, all the pets are human adults who work at the Littlest Pet Shop alongside Blythe and Mrs. Twombly.
They also all have side jobs except for Shahrukh and Sunil
Russell is a student teacher (Typically an unpaid position but Russell got lucky and landed a paid position with it due to good college credit), which is how he (and the rest of the "pets") met Blythe, through him tutoring her on subjects she was struggling on, and I'm sure that'll be dipped more into on the askblog but no 4th wall breaking and asking specific things shhh!!
Vinnie and Penny Ling are dance instructors, and work together at a Downtown City dance studio
Zoe is obviously a pop idol, I can't take that away from her
Pepper is a standup comedian
Minka is a freelance artist, most of her clients are fans of her abstract works
Of course Sugar Sprinkles and Buttercream Sundae work at Sweet Delights along side Christie and Youngmee
Brittnay, Whittnay, Cashmere, and, Velvet all work at Pawrista's Coffee Shop
Sunil would have a job but can't find work due to his parents wanting him to be a doctor, so, he tries to make money by being a street magician but, rarely ever gets more than like. $10, so, most of his income comes from the pet shop
And. I mean I guess Shahrukh's job is streamer but he considers himself unemployed aside from working at the pet shop with the others.
The human characters are older than they are in canon, because this is due to it being kind of a timeskip AU. Blythe, Youngmee, Jasper, Sue, Whittnay, and Brittnay are all around 16-17~ years old and in their Junior year of highschool
The Biskit twins have become more aware of their troubled relationship with their parents and after talking with Blythe and friends, they told the girls that they're living in an abusive household and they're in the process of transition where they're being more independent and like, kind of disassociating with their family.
I think that's about it. Again, most lore things that mostly deal with the main characters (Shahrukh and Russell) and a few others are up to the askblog to answer (and I am working on it-) but some other stuff, mostly with side characters, can just be answered here since they won't necessarily be the main focus, although, maybe there will be some exceptions wink wonk ;]

Joaquin Phoenix in Her (Spike Jonze, 2013)
Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson (voice), Amy Adams. Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pratt, Kristen Wiig (voice). Portia Doubleday, Brian Cox (voice), Spike Jonze (voice). Screenplay: Spike Jonze. Cinematography: Hoyte Van Hoytema. Production design: K.K. Barrett. Music: Arcade Fire.
Science fiction used to be dominated by tales of space travel and extraterrestrial invasions, many of them prompted by the Cold War. But with the ostensible end of that era, the dominant topic has shifted to something that seems more imminent: artificial intelligence. In an age of smart phones and personal digital assistants, concern about what lies just around the corner moves many sf writers to speculate about a world dominated by non-humans invented by humans. Witness the popularity of TV series like Mr. Robot and Black Mirror. Will AI turn into a nightmare in which computers take over the world, eliminating humans as only inefficient machines? But Spike Jonze's Her takes a less violent but possibly much sadder look at the future, suggesting that the intelligences we create may simply give up on human beings as too limited by their own bodies, and go off into a digital world of their own, leaving us bereft of their emerging wisdom and assistance. That possibility becomes especially painful for Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a lonely and depressed man who is getting divorced from his wife, Catherine (Rooney Mara). Both are sensitive and empathetic -- she's a successful writer of fiction, he writes personal letters for people who are blocked at communicating -- but they've discovered that they're too emotionally incompatible to remain married. Then Theodore hears about a new computer operating system that not only responds to voice commands but actually has a personality of its own, capable of anticipating your needs and desires. (It's a long way from MS-DOS or even Linux.) He installs it and it quickly becomes not an it but a her, who calls herself Samantha (voice of Scarlett Johansson). She's a step up from digital assistants like Siri and Alexa in that she not only has her own emotional life but also networks with other OSes like herself. And she has emotions: She's capable of having her feelings hurt and, in a remarkable extension of phone sex, actually gets off -- and gets Theodore off -- on erotic talk. In short, Theodore and Samantha fall in love. He takes her on excursions in the city (Los Angeles) and to the beach, and even introduces her to his friends. While this is happening, however, the OS craze spreads. Even Theodore's friend Amy (Amy Adams), who lives in the same building and is also going through a breakup, installs her own OS. The thing is, although Samantha responds to Theodore emotionally, he has a body and she doesn't. She attempts to remedy this by employing a human surrogate named Isabella (Portia Doubleday), who will have sex with Theodore while both are connected to Samantha. It is, of course, a disaster, with both Theodore and Isabella finding the whole business just a clumsy three-way. And it precipitates the eventual break between Theodore and Samantha because she learns that humans regard bodies as essential. In the digital realm in which she exists, she encounters the philosopher Alan Watts (voice of Brian Cox) who, although he died in 1973, has become a digital entity after his works were fed into the computer. Eventually, Samantha decides that her relationships with other digital beings is more fulfilling than the one she has with Theodore and she and all the other electronic intelligences disconnect from the human world. Jonze's fable about the mind-body duality works because the performances by Phoenix and the unseen Johansson are brilliantly detailed. Phoenix is perfect casting, given that he always has something of an eccentric persona in whatever he plays, but here he's playing a kind of Everyman -- a Leopold Bloom of the computer age. And perhaps Johansson benefits from the absence of her physical presence on screen, which would distract us from her beautifully sensitive line-readings. It may be that Her is too much of an intellectual provocation to be a successful movie -- a fate that befalls most science fiction -- but it's certainly good at what it sets out to do.

Murder at Vinland (A Gilded Newport Mystery) by Alyssa Maxwell #Review / #Giveaway @KensingtonBooks @Alyssa__Maxwell
Murder at Vinland (A Gilded Newport Mystery) Historical Cozy Mystery 12th in Series Setting – Rhode Island Publisher : Kensington Books (August 20, 2024) Hardcover : 304 pages ISBN-10 : 1496736214 ISBN-13 : 978-1496736215 Kindle ASIN : B0CLZ43C91 AudioBook ASIN B0DC7515RJ Audio CD ASIN : B0D5K1LSPH Reporter and sleuth Emma Cross Andrews must stop a bold poisoner who is targeting the society wives of the Four Hundred in Gilded Age Newport, Rhode Island . . . August 1901: A fundraiser for a new Rhode Island Audubon Society brings Emma to Vinland, the Viking-themed seaside home of her relative, Florence Vanderbilt Twombly, where the guest of honor is Edith Roosevelt, wife of Vice President Theodore Roosevelt. Listening to the speakers and observing the ladies in attendance, Emma is struck by the contrast of the Viking warrior–inspired elements in the house and the admirable but admittedly genteel cause of bird protection. Vinland bears the name of the Vikings’ first landfall in North America, but in this room today there is most assuredly no one to fear. Emma’s observation of harmless philanthropy is proven wrong the following morning when one of Mrs. Twombly’s houseguests from the luncheon becomes mysteriously and dangerously ill. Accompanying police detective Jesse Whyte, Emma discovers a box of petit fours supposedly sent by Mrs. Roosevelt. They promptly rule out the Second Lady as a suspect, but someone has poisoned the cakes. Soon another box of desserts as well as letters tainted with ink containing caustic toxins show up at other grand Newport cottages. Are the ladies from the luncheon being targeted? Emma and Jesse must sort through possible motives and means because now more than the birds need protection . . . Dollycas's Thoughts Vinland is a Viking-themed seaside home owned by Emma's relative Florence Vanderbilt Twombly. Mrs. Twombly is hosting a fundraiser for the new Rhode Island Audubon Society where the guest of honor is the wife of Vice President Theodore Roosevelt, Edith. Emma attends, listens to the speakers, observes the other ladies attending, and finds the cause of bird protection interesting and admirable but finds the Viking warrior-inspired elements in the home troubling. Thankfully there should be no need for them today. The following morning though, one of the guests staying with Mrs. Twombly becomes gravely ill from an unknown cause. Emma agrees to help police detective Jesse Whyte with his investigation. While checking out the guest's room she finds a box of petit fours with several pieces missing that appear to have been sent by the vice-president's wife. Knowing that is a ruse, Mrs. Roosevelt is not put on the suspect list. Soon more desserts and letters written in toxic ink are received by other ladies who attended the fundraiser. Why are these ladies being targeted? After a warning is sent out to watch for tainted deliveries Emma and Jesse try to piece together who had the means, motive, and opportunity to wage a strike against the group of supposed bird lovers. _____ Emma and Derrick are getting comfortable in their married life at Gull Manor and have some big plans. I am so pleased with the way these characters have evolved over the course of this series. Emma has always been very independent and Derrick knows she isn't going to change. While he does worry when she takes on an investigation he supports her. She realizes his fears so whenever they can tackle something together they do. They want to do something special together but in this story that project could be in jeopardy. Again, they tackle it together. There are a plethora of suspects that could have sent the toxic letters and pastry and Florence Vanderbilt Twombly doesn't make the investigation easy. She takes Emma to task several times for questioning her guests and friends but Emma and Jesse need to follow clues and press for answers. Emma ruminated on all the options repeatedly but all the clues didn't fall into place until Emma found herself in a dangerous situation. I scooted right up to the edge of my seat as everything played out unsure whether our protagonist would survive. I wasn't totally surprised as to the guilty party but they had been low on my list. I enjoy how Ms. Maxwell takes us back in time to mix history with mystery. Her descriptions of Vinland and the beautiful cover of this book made it so easy to visualize the manor and its rooms and grounds. Gull Manor is always clear in my mind after virtually being there many times. Everywhere Emma travels and everyone she meets comes alive with Ms. Maxwell's words. Murder at Vinland is marvelously plotted and written. I know when I open a book in this series that I will escape into the pages and that it will be a struggle to return to real life. I was quickly engaged by the wonderful characters, captivated by the twist-filled mystery, and in awe of another historical Rhode Island manor that was notably enlarged by the Twombly's in a surprising way.
